Every Last Fear

Alright y'all, I got this thriller ARC from Minotaur Books, and holy $h!t!!! This beauty doesn't come out until next year, and I think there is going to be a lot of buzz around it! Most of us have watched some kind of documentary/20-20 story about a murder or murderer. It is just human  nature to be curious about that kind of thing. Have you ever wondered what happened to the family after the documentary came out though?? I certainly have, especially for those that claim innocence. While this is a fictional story and more along the lines of the Netflix show Making A Murderer, Alex Finlay still does an amazing job of pulling you in and keeping you guessing like it was a true crime story. There are multiple POVs, but it did not get confusing once. I was able to keep up with the different characters as well as the fact that this is told in a Before and After timeline. There are a few triggering things that I must warn about. There is mention of teen pregnancy, teen drinking, and attempted sexual abuse. It is not mentioned very heavily, and is not the focus of the overall story. I have to give a big thank you to Minotaur Books for sending this to me in advance, and I cannot wait to see what others think of it come March 2021!!

SYNOPSIS

"They found the bodies on a Tuesday."

His Family, Dead.
After a late night, NYU student Matt Pine returns to his dorm room to devastating news; nearly his entire family has been found dead from an apparent gas leak while vacationing in Mexico. The police claim it was an accident, but the FBI seem far less certain--and they won't tell Matt why.

His Brother, Behind Bars.
The tragedy makes headlines because this is the first time the Pine family has been thrust into the media spotlight. Matt's older brother, Danny--serving a life sentence for the murder of his girlfriend, Charlotte-- was the subject of a viral true-crime documentary suggesting that Danny was wrongfully convicted. Though the country has rallied behind Danny, Matt holds a secret: the night Charlotte was killed, Matt saw something that makes him believe his brother is guilty of the crime.

His only move--to face his EVERY LAST FEAR.
When Matt returns home, he's faced with a frenzied media and memories he'd hoped to leave behind forever. Now, as the deaths in Mexico appear connected to Danny's case, Matt must unearth the truth behind the crime that sent his brother to prison--putting his own life in the line of fire.
